A Tanzania Safari Followed by a Tropical Island Escape in Mauritius.
Imagine spending your mornings watching lions roam the African plains, then a few days later relaxing on a white-sand beach beside the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. This 12-day holiday brings these two experiences together, combining a Tanzania safari with a relaxing stay in Mauritius.
The trip begins in Arusha, where you will spend the first night. The next day we are heading to the Tarangire National park for the first safari experience. We shall hopefully see the famous gigantic baobab trees and the big 5. The next destination is the famous Ngorongoro Crater. Descending into the crater for a game drive is one of the highlights of any northern Tanzania safari. The crater floor is home to an impressive variety of wildlife, and you may spot lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras and, if you are lucky, the rare black rhino.
After your visit, you will spend a night around the Ngorongoro Crater. From here, the journey continues to Serengeti National Park, where three nights give you time to explore its vast open plains and search for the wildlife that has made this part of Tanzania famous. Depending on the time of year, you may also encounter herds of wildebeest and zebras moving across the plains during the Great Migration.
On Day 7, you will return to Arusha and travel onward to Nairobi for an overnight stay before your flight to Mauritius the following day.
Mauritius offers a completely different pace. Here, you can spend your days swimming in clear lagoons, relaxing on beautiful beaches or enjoying a boat trip along the coast. If you feel like exploring, there are waterfalls, botanical gardens, local markets and charming coastal villages to discover. You can be as active or as laid-back as you wish.
This is a wonderful option for anyone who wants more than a traditional safari. You get the excitement of seeing Tanzania’s wildlife in its natural habitat, followed by time to slow down and enjoy an island holiday.
From the wild plains of the Serengeti to the beautiful beaches of Mauritius, this is a holiday that gives you the best of both worlds.

Situated at the foothills of Mount Meru in the city of Arusha, the Mount Meru Hotel lies on 15 acres of serene and lush landscape. As the topographic centre-piece of the Arusha National Park, the hotel is also surrounded by some of Africa’s most breathtaking vistas, rich with a diverse array of wildlife, etched against the fertile slopes of this beautiful mountain, the fifth highest peak in Africa.
Day 2: Drive to Tarangire National Park. Afternoon Safaris
Breakfast at your hotel in Arusha. Check out of the hotel and depart for Tarangire National Park is a hidden gem where vast herds of elephant roam, majestic baobab trees grab your attention with their imposing presence, and diverse habitats prevail. The best time to visit Tarangire National Park is during the dry season, from July to October. See large concentrations of elephant and other iconic wildlife gathering near the

Tarangire River. It’s a popular tourist season, featuring warm and sunny weather, minimal vegetation, and fantastic game viewing.
November to May is the milder wet season when the park is scenic, lush and green, and the landscapes are bursting with wildflowers. Bird enthusiasts will d
elight in many additional migratory visitors. Overnight at the safari camp in Tarangire.
Day 3: Full Day Ngorongoro Crater Tour
After breakfast at the camp, we depart for Ngorongoro Crater. We will descend over 600 meters into the Ngorongoro crater to view wildlife for a full day crater tour. Picnic lunch inside the crater.

Supported by a year round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro Crater supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park, is it’s dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. Dinner and overnight at Farm of Dreams lodge.
Day 4: Road Transfer Ngorongoro to Serengeti
After breakfast we start with a drive to the Serengeti national park, expecting to arrive you lodge in time for lunch . On the way, there’s a lot to observe: More than 1.5 million wildebeest and 700 000 zebras are on their way here if we pass by at the time of the famous annual migration. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Mawe Camp.
Days 5 & 6: Serengeti Game Drives
Our day starts with a morning game drive in Serengeti. For animals, that’s an active time of the day – not hot yet, so there is a lot to see out there.

Full day game viewing Dinner and Overnight in the lodge. Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle.
The spectacle of predator versus prey dominates Tanzania’s greatest park. Golden-maned lion prides feast on the abundance of plain grazers. Solitary leopards haunt the acacia trees lining the Seronera River, while a high density of cheetahs prowls the southeastern plains. Almost uniquely, all three African jackal species occur here, alongside the spotted hyena and a host of more elusive small predators, ranging from the insectivorous aardwolf to the beautiful serval cat.
