14 Days Safari to Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda (Big 5 and Gorillas)
On this trip you will see some of Africa’s most amazing treasures. From the foot of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro to the Big 5 wild game and the montain gorillas of Virunga volcanoes. You will also see the perfect caldera of the Ngorongoro to the endless plains of Serengeti, this safari encompasses Africa’s most unforgettable and contrasting landscapes.
Amboseli amazes with its numerous elephants, Ngorongoro Crater has an exceptional concentration of animals, Serengeti delights with its rich fauna. Dry and salty Lake Natron in the heart of the rift valley is crossed by the proud and indefatigable Masai, and you will be glad to reach the green and sandy edges shore of Lake Victoria with its warm and friendly fishermen.
The final delight – the Virunga volcanoes are one of the last refuges of the mountain gorilla. Together, we will embark upon a true voyage of discovery, as you get to know these warm and friendly peoples, marvel at these unique landscapes and experience the greatest wildlife show on earth.
Consider this 2-week East Africa safari to Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. Big Five safari starting in Kenya’s Amboseli National Park – at the foot of Africa’s highest mountain. Cross into Tanzania visiting Lake Manyara where you are likely to see the tree climbing lions. Ngorongoro Crater is also part of this great safari before moving on wards to Serengeti. Re-enter Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve for 3 days of safari adventure before flight to Kigali in preparation for the Gorilla Tour in Rwanda.

Day 1: Arrival Nairobi – Transfer to hotel
Arrive Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. You are met by Hallmark Travel Planners representative and transfer to the Tamarind Tree Hotel (15 KM/approximately 30 minutes) for your overnight stay. Overnight: Tamarind Tree Hotel, Nairobi.

Day 2: Drive Nairobi to Amboseli
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart for Amboseli. You’ll always be able to see your next destination in the distance, with Amboseli’s wonderful views of Mount Kilimanjaro’s snowcapped peaks in neighbouring Tanzania. Today you’ll arrive in time for lunch at Amboseli AA Lodge, surrounded by open plains in some of the finest elephant-watching country in the world.

Day 3: Safari Activities Amboseli
Enjoy the full day discovering Amboseli on early morning, mid-morning and afternoon game viewing drives. Amboseli is one of Kenya’s smaller parks, but it’s a popular one that’s packed full of big sights, with over 1000 elephants including some of the largest bulls in Africa.
The ecosystem here is primarily savannah and the low-lying vegetation makes the wildlife here easier to spot. Though largely dry and dusty, Amboseli is also home to swamplands, fed by underwater springs from the melt waters of Mount Kilimanjaro. Stay: Amboseli AA Lodge.
Day 4: Amboseli to Lake Manyara via Arusha
After breakfast at the lodge, you’ll transfer to the Kenya/Tanzania Namanga border. Once you have cleared immigration, you will change vehicles and guides and continue on to Arusha for lunch, and then on to Isoitok Tented camp. At Isoitok Camp, the permanent tents are thoughtfully located with plenty of bush and natural fencing to give you the seclusion and privacy you need for your getaway.

Day 5: Safari in Lake Manyara – Afternoon drive to Ngorongoro
Early breakfast. Check out with picnic lunch boxes for a game drive in Lake Manyara national park. Game till later afternoon, then depart for Ngorongoro Crater, arriving at your lodge in the late afternoon.
The lodge is located on the crater rim and enjoys spectacular views and sunsets. Stay: Rhino lodge.
Day 6: Full day Ngorongoro Crater Tour
After breakfast, depart with picnic lunch boxes for a full day game drive down into the crater. Discover the diverse areas of forest, swamp lands, lakes and open grasslands in this volcanic caldera that’s home to the densest concentration of wildlife in Africa. There is good game viewing year-round, as most animals do not leave the crater.
You might also spot Masai tribesmen guiding their cattle down the steep crater walls to graze. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight . Stay: Rhino Lodge.
Day 7: Ngorongoro to Serengeti
After breakfast you’ll set off for the Serengeti, stopping en route to visit Olduvai Gorge – a rich archaeological site where evidence of the first signs of human life was found. Travel on to the Serengeti to arrive in time for lunch followed by your first game drive in one of Africa’s most iconic wildlife-viewing areas. Hope to spot the national park’s resident big cats as well as the Big Five amongst its rolling plains. Drive to the lodge for the night – Serengeti Mawe Tented camp.

Day 8: Safaris in Serengeti
Today you will enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti. There’s also the option for a hot-air balloon safari over the Serengeti plains.
You’ll rise early and take off at dawn in order to witness sunrise over the vast savannah. Stay: Serengeti Mawe Tented Camp.
Day 9: Drive Serengeti to Masai Mara Reserve
We plan to depart very early today. It is going to be a relatively long day, and drive. We leave with picnic lunch boxes.
After an early breakfast depart for Kenya-Tanzania border at Isabania (300 KM/approximately 5 hours), where we cross back into Kenya and head for the breathtaking beauty of the Masai Mara National Reserve (100KM/approximately 3 hours – travelling time depends on game viewing opportunities).

Day 10: Safaris in Masai Mara
With almost every species of animal great and small in the park, this is one of Africa’s premier wildlife areas and today we enjoy both morning and afternoon game drives in search of the Big Cats and the ‘Big Five’ (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino).
The heartland of the Masai, presents a landscape where Africa is laid bare in all its majesty. Here the endless struggle for survival is played out across the vast open plains and riverine forests of this captivating land. Each year the Mara explodes into life, as the annual migration of great herds of wildebeest journey from the Serengeti to fresh pastures in the north. Between July and October the Mara River becomes the setting for the crossing of some 1.3 million animals, bringing with them the inevitable predators and the inevitable dramas. Day 11: Drive to Nairobi. Fly to Kigali Rwanda
Breakfast at your camp. Morning options lake activities. Depart for Nairobi to arrive early afternoon. After lunch, transfer to the airport for flight to Kigali, Rwanda. Flight departs Nairobi at 1630 hours to arrive Kigali at 1650 hours (Rwanda is 1 hour behind Kenya).

Day 12: Kigali city Tour – Transfer to Kinigi in Afternoon
After breakfast, city tour of Kigali including the visit of the Genocide Memorial centre at Gisozi. In Rwanda you will find all over the country Memorials to remember the genocide of 1994. The most important Genocide Memorials are those of Kigali (Gisozi) and Murambi (Gikongoro) where the history of the genocide is explained. A visit to the genocide memorial is for most visitors an emotional event.

Day 13: Day of Gorilla Tracking
Early breakfast, after which you will depart for the Headquarters of the Park where your driver-guide will accomplish the necessary formalities for you. You will meet your ranger guide(s) for a briefing about the greatest animal experience ever!
Drive to the slopes of one of the Virunga volcanoes for your trekking. After the trekking, if time allows lunch at Ruhengeri and an excursion to explore the beautiful lakes in the region (Lake Bulera & Ruhondo). Overnight at your hotel in Kigali – Flame tree Cottages.
Day 14: Flight from Kigali to Nairobi – Depart
The whole morning is for your rest at Kinigi. After lunch, pick and transfer back to Kigali City and on wards to the airport for your flight to Nairobi. You check in for your international flight out of Africa.
