Day 1: Arrival Nairobi

Your Kenyan safari adventure begins in the capital, Nairobi, when you arrive at the airport. Upon your arrival you will be met at the airport by Hallmark Travel Planners Representative and transferred to your hotel where you are booked on Bed and Breakfast.

Nairobi is Kenya’s capital city, it is one of the largest and most influential cities in Africa, an important commercial and financial regional hub.

Nairobi was once swampland but turned into the metropolis, the thriving capital city of Kenya. The transformation began when the railroad arrived in 1899, and a rudimentary camp and source depot was established at the location known to the Maasai as “Ewaso Naiberi,” or “abode of cool water.”

Nairobi was then nicknamed as “Mile 327”, quickly becoming a small village that continued to grow into a rustic town before becoming the capital of British East Africa in 1907, drawing in thousands of adventurers, hunters and travelers from around the world.

Day 2: Lewa Wildlife Conservancy

This morning, the day beings with a hearty breakfast at your luxury hotel in Nairobi. After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight.

Start your real safari by boarding a scheduled flight to Lewa from Wilson Airport in Nairobi. After landing at a bush airstrip, a guide will be there to meet you and drive you to the camp, your home away from home for the next 3 nights. Delight in a mini game drive en route to the lodge spotting Grevy’s zebra and reticulated giraffe.

Day 3 and 4: Safaris at Lewa Conservancy

Spend the next 2 days of your Kenya vacation exploring the Lewa region, which is a stronghold for the highly endangered black rhino in Kenya. The conservancy intimately connected with the local tribes uses much of the profit raised in community and conservation projects.

Traverse the conservancy in open game vehicles and spot the myriad of species that live in the area. Watch for baby rhinos hiding beneath their mother’s belly. Look for lions being chased by angry buffalo and hiding up a tree to try to escape after a failed attempted hunt.

Encounter animals from a different perspective while on a guided walk in the company of an expert guide. This is also a great opportunity to see some of the 350 species of birds, which occur in the region. Lewa is a fascinating, game rich area with never a dull moment and with knowledgeable guides that know where to find all the action, it lends to a superb safari start.

Day 5: Charter Light to Masai Mara National Reserve

Leaving the semi-arid northern regions behind, catch a scheduled flight from Lewa to the Masai Mara. After landing a camp representative will meet you and drive you through the grassy plains of the Mara to your luxury camp for the next three nights.

The Masai Mara National Reserve forms part of the same ecosystem as the Serengeti in Tanzania. It is here where nature shows her great abundance and graphically demonstrates the meaning of the circle of life, the Great Migration.

Following the rains, between July and October over 1 million Wildebeest can pass through the Mara grazing on the new grass. Rain, as we know, is very unpredictable, and as the migration follows the rains, this too can be unpredictable.

The Mara with its resident herds and large predator populations is a year round safari destination, it always promises an exceptional wildlife experience.

Days 6 &  7: Big 5 Luxury Safaris in Masai Mara

The Mara is home to one of the densest lion populations in the World and the big cats are never far away

Masai Mara is renowned for delivering exceptional big cat (lion, leopard and cheetah) sightings. Cheetahs are particularly well adapted to the region’s flat plains, which makes the Masai Mara one of the best places to see these nimble predators. They often seek vantage points on fallen trees, termite mounds, and even game drive vehicles! It’s a highlight of any Masai Mara safari to watch the world’s fastest land mammal chase down its prey.

Game viewing in the Masai Mara is excellent all year round thanks to its varied landscapes, wide open spaces, temperate climate and diverse population of resident game. Its champagne-coloured savannahs are home to safari heavyweights like lion, leopard, elephant and buffalo, plus popular species like zebra, giraffe, hyena, eland and gazelle. Rhino sightings are scarce, but these endangered animals can be spotted – if you’re in luck – in the Mara Triangle.

Day 8: Charter Flight to Nairobi – depart

On this final day of your Lewa & Mara Premier Safari there will be time for one last game drive in the Mara before breakfast.

After which the game drive , you will be driven back to the airstrip to catch a scheduled flight back to Nairobi, for your onwards travel arrangements.
