Day 1. Arrival Nairobi
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a member from Hallmark Travel Planners team who will transfer you to your hotel – Hemingways Hotel
Nairobi is Kenya’s capital city, it is one of the largest and most influential cities in Africa, an important commercial and financial regional hub.
Within a relatively short period of time, what was once swampland was reborn into the metropolis of Nairobi, the thriving capital city of Kenya. The transformation began when the railroad arrived in 1899, and a rudimentary camp and source depot was established at the location known to the Maasai as “Ewaso Naiberi,” or “abode of cool water.”
Nairobi was then nicknamed as “Mile 327”, quickly becoming a small village that continued to grow into a rustic town before becoming the capital of British East Africa in 1907, drawing in thousands of adventurers, hunters and travelers from around the world.
Visiting the pioneer safari capital during your dream vacation in Africa takes you into one of the largest and most diverse cities on the continent, and gives you personal experience with what has become known as “Nairobi character”.
This distinct African metropolitan offers many local attractions where you can learn about the history of the city and the cultures that make Kenya a unique destination for any type of traveler.
Day 2: Scheduled Flight to Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, pick you up from your hotel in Nairobi and transfer to nearby Wilson Airport for your morning flight to Amboseli National park.
Amboseli National Park is a perfect place for game viewing as it hosts an enormous range of wildlife. This is the best spot on the continent for viewing numerous herds of free-ranging elephants. They are in such abundance here you are guaranteed sightings.
Framing the park is the towering presence of the Mt. Kilimanjaro, the largest mountain in Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. Its snow-capped summit will peek out when the clouds break at dawn or dusk.
Upon completing your short flight from Nairobi, you will be met at Amboseli Airstrip by your safaris guide . Over the next 2 days you’ll have plenty of game drives in which to enjoy this magnificent park, but also time for rest and relaxation.
All wildlife viewing will be from your private customized pop top Land Cruiser Jeep and window seats are guaranteed. You will transfer to Elewana Tortilis Camp. All meals and overnight at your lodge.
Tortilis Camp is a luxury tented camp located in Amboseli National Park, Kenya. It is situated in a private concession area outside the park, offering exclusive access to some of the most breathtaking wildlife viewing spots in Africa.
The camp consists of 17 spacious tents, each with a thatched roof and private veranda. The tents are tastefully furnished and include all the amenities you would expect from a luxury safari camp, including en-suite bathrooms, hot showers, and comfortable beds with mosquito nets.
The main area of the camp includes a lounge, dining area, and bar, all of which offer stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro. Guests can relax in the lounge and watch wildlife at the waterhole or take a dip in the swimming pool while soaking up the beautiful surroundings.
Tortilis Camp offers a variety of activities, including game drives, guided walks, and birdwatching. The camp’s location provides access to some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa, including elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, and more. The camp also offers cultural visits to nearby Maasai villages, where guests can learn about Maasai culture and traditions.
Day 3. Day of Luxury safaris in Amboseli
A full Day of safari activities in Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park rests at the foot of Africa’s highest mountain Kilimanjaro, making this park one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kenya. Created in 1974, Amboseli’s ecosystem creates a habitat perfect for the areas abundant wildlife, especially during the dry seasons.
Although relatively smaller than other National Parks, the diversity of the Amboseli ecosystems has created the perfect environment for hundreds of bird species and large game. Considered a favorite spot for writers such as Ernest Hemingway, the Amboseli’s incomparable beauty and ample wildlife makes it a definite visit for all tourists. Overnight at your safari lodge
Day 4. Scheduled Charter Flight to Lewa
After breakfast at the hotel, we shall be transferred to the Nairobi Wilson Airport to catch your internal flight to the Lewa Airstrip. Upon arrival at the airstrip, you will transfer to the safari camp, game driving en-route.
You stay at Loisaba Tented Camp
Elewana Loisaba Tented Camp is situated on the beautiful Loisaba Conservancy in Laikipia. Perched on the edge of an escarpment, the camp is designed to capitalize on unhindered views across Laikipia’s mottled landscape all the way to Mt Kenya. All accommodations and main areas enjoy a breathtaking vantage point over an expansive panorama.
African-themed sophistication and style is the flavour of Elewana Loisaba Tented Camp. Spacious and airy tents are custom-built with large top-to-bottom doors and windows, high ceilings and polished wood floors. The tent suites are adorned in chic Africana furniture with a modern European twist. The bathrooms are luxurious with flush toilets, double-basin vanity and solar-heated hot water cascading from a rainfall shower to deliver a revitalizing cleanse after an action-packed day.
The inviting main areas of Loisaba Tented Camp include a large open dining area, separate open lounge and bar, a large wooden decking area for outside dining, relaxing and enjoying the view, and one of Africa’s most picturesque infinity pools.
In the afternoon, you have the chance to enjoy your first shared game drive, spanning the border of Laikipia and Kenya’s rugged northern frontier.
Day 5 & 6. Luxury Safaris at Lewa Conservancy
The next two days are spent exploring this wonderful privately-owned game reserve, enjoying walking, horse-riding, camel safaris, game-drives, night-drives, fishing, archery, tennis and swimming in the waterfalls behind the lodge.
Set amidst 62,000 acres of sprawling savannah, the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy boasts some of the most spectacular views in northern Kenya.
With one of the highest wildlife densities in Kenya including 10% and 14% of the country’s black and white rhinos respectively, the Conservancy is also home to the world’s single largest population of Grevy’s zebras.
It is also the best place to spot herds of elephants and buffalo, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, more than 400 species of birds and if lucky, a pack of wild dogs!
Guests are also encouraged to participate in ranch life, such as dipping cattle. Open grassy plains are home to plains game such as Beisa oryx, Grant’s gazelle, ostrich and cheetah. Laikipia boasts a population of 80% of the rare Grevy’s zebra and Jackson’s hartebeest in its region.
To the south of the ranch, the bush is thicker and full of acacia woodland which is home to several elephant herds (Laikipia ranking second in the highest elephant populations in Kenya), buffalo, reticulated giraffe, wild dog, lion and leopard.
Day 7. Charter Flight Loisaba to Masai Mara
After breakfast, transfer to Wilson airport for your scheduled flight to the world renowned Masai Mara. The flight takes about 45 minutes from Nairobi to Masai Mara.
On arrival Masai Mara Wildlife reserve, you transfer to your safari lodge where you spend the next 3 nights. Most safari camps and lodges are built around a waterhole, it is possible to see a wide variety of game from the camp including elephants, wildebeests and giraffe.
Sometimes, the tents are tucked into the edge of the forest and have polished wooden decks with large verandahs from which you can enjoy the tranquil surroundings and the animals visiting the waterhole.
In the afternoon, revel in an adventurous game drive. The reserve is a rugged jumble of ancient volcanic cones and craters, boasting with some of the best views of Kilimanjaro and home to a wonderful selection of game, including paradise to bird watchers’ in the south-west corner of the reserve.
Tonight, tuck into a delicious dinner at the lodge, swopping stories of your adventures so far.
Days 8 & 9: Luxury Safaris in Maasai Mara
These 2 days are spent game viewing in Kenya’s finest wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Our morning and afternoon game drives take us in search of Africa’s Big Five and the plethora of other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve. On clear days, the Masai Mara offers fantastic orange tinged sunsets well-worth capturing on camera.
The Masai Mara Game Reserve is 1510km² of incredible wide-open landscapes and fertile riverine woodland following the looping meanders of the Mara and Talek rivers in Kenya. One glimpse is enough to explain its appeal; it is typical open savannah, with a mass of amazing wildlife.
Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara you will see an abundance of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos are also found in great numbers.
It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot, but reasonably common.
10: Charter flight to Nairobi – Depart
Today you enjoy your last safari activity in form of an early morning game drive. After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for the flight back to Nairobi for the next.
