Wear whatever is comfortable. It is recommended to have a sturdy pair of broken-in trail shoes, boots, or sneakers. It is preferable to dress in layers and wear clothing that will wick away perspiration and keep you dry and comfortable
If you are on this trip to Africa over a period of about 2 weeks, the following list may serve as a good guideline on what to bring along in terms of clothing.
5 Short-sleeved cotton shirts. Polo-style shirts are more versatile than T-shirts
2 Long sleeved cotton shirts. These can include light dress shirts for sun protection and flannel shirts and cotton turtlenecks for layering
2 Pairs of Trousers: Comfortable and loose-fitting. One lighter, one a bit heavier for warmth in the evening.
Travel skirt, for women. Not required, but highly recommended.
Underwear – 7 to 10 changes. Due to the very bumpy roads, brassieres are suggested for women, even if you usually don’t wear one.
Fleece jacket.
Light rain jacket with a hood. A water- proof breathable jacket can double as a wind breaker. This should be sized to fit over your sweater or fleece jacket.
Wide brim sun hat.
Footwear
Pack comfortable walking shoes. Look for shoes with good arch support. Sports sandals. Not required, but very highly recommended, especially if you are taking an extension tom the beach/coast.
Socks – 5 to 7 pairs. During May to August, one or two pairs should be warm hiking socks made of wool, capilene or Thermax.
Optional Clothing
Swim suit (recommended for dips in swimming pools, except in June July and August, when it might be too cool to swim- East Africa speaking)
Walking shorts, long-cut for modesty (Not needed May through August – East Africa speaking)

SAFARI AND TRAVEL LUGGAGE WEIGHT
While international flights from North America, Europe and most other parts allow the transport and handling of two large pieces of luggage per person, clients are strongly advised to travel with one medium-sized piece of checked in luggage, and a carry-on bag or camera bag if desired. The same applies to regional flights within Africa.
On light aircraft flights within most African counties, the baggage allowance is limited to a maximum of 33 pounds, excluding camera and video equipment. Any additional luggage can be stored at the city/ town hotel until your return. Luggage and personal effects are carried at owner’s risk throughout the tour. Baggage is therefore insurance is recommended.

For beginners or first-times, this might not be so easy. Just let us know what your budget and preferences are. We then send you our suggestion made by our expert Safari Consultants. You can make alterations until you manage to get a final safari fitting your needs. We do not charge for helping you find a suitable safari.
This depends on the amount of time you have available for the safari. It will also depend on the number of countries or destinations that you are interested in visiting. If you intend to visit more than one destinations, then how far apart or close by they from one another? What is the mode of transport from one place to another?
Generally, and bearing in mind the above statement, a safari can be anything from 3 days to 25 days. The more days you can afford for your safari, the more relaxed the safari will be. As a general rule, a 7 day Safari would be enough to enjoy a safari in most African countries, assuming it is one country.
What is a Group Tour
A group safari tour means you are traveling together with other persons. Normally it would be on a fixed departure dates. The group may be made up of your acquaintances or not. It is normally cheaper to travel in a group. But it does not have any flexibility and personal freedom as everything has to go according to a pre-planned schedule.
What is a Private Safari
A private safari means you travel with persons of your choice – family, friends, colleagues. You select the dates of travel, the locations to visit, the accommodation type and standard and the duration of the safari. You can make changes with regard to the safari activities and the time to take them.
Medical Precautions for travel to Africa and vaccination requirements change from time to time. There are also differences depending on the destination you choose.
We suggest you consult your local doctor or health department for information on the latest health precautions. If you are on prescription medication, please ensure you have an adequate supply to last the duration of your stay and a copy of your prescription(s).
If you are traveling with Hallmark Travel Planners, we shall also advise you according to the specific destination(s) that you would be traveling to.
Depending on the type of tour you purchase, the destination you visit and the weather conditions at the time of travel, Hallmark Travel Planners uses either 7-seater custom safari micro vans or 4WD closed Jeeps with pop-up roof ideal for game viewing, photography and sight seeing.

Generally, it is better to book as far in advance as possible to ensure availability at the time you wish to travel, especially during the high/peak seasons.
However, if your preferred dates of travel fall during the high/peak season, the best time to book your trip is as soon as have made up your mind. Some very popular destinations like Serengeti and Okavango have limited accommodation spaces and fill up very quickly.
