How to Vacation on A shoestring dudget

Even if you are on a tight budget, you can still find ways to travel a bit. You just need to do some planning and stick to a budget that you have set determined in advance for travel. The most enjoyable vacation is the one that is not going to break the bank. Use the tips  listed here to learn and begin planning your next affordable vacation.

1. For Long-Haul Destinations, Look  For Deals

If your chosen destination is far way, consider deals and special offers from various travel companies. There are many different kinds of deals and offers for you to choose from. You can shop around offline and online and opt for the ones that will cover your flight, hotel and even your car rental or just look for the one that will cover whatever you are looking for in your travel plans.

2. For Local Trips, Consider Deals-of-the-day

If you are traveling locally, within your country, you can look into deal-of-the-day websites like Group-on, rupu, travel factory, etc. Some of these sites offer discounts for dining and entertainment.

These sites may also  have offers in different areas that make it more affordable to see shows, have dinner or even book a hotel. Spending some time looking into them will be well worth it when you see how much money you can save. It is also a great way to learn about the different things to do in the area.

3. Choose Destinations with Weaker currencies

If you have decided to travel to another country, look into the currency exchange rates. Some countries will make it more affordable to spend money while you are there by having a great exchange rate. This is largely because their currency is weaker than your. You can find information all over the internet about the different exchange rates in the different countries.

4. Prepare Your Own Meals

No matter where you go, it is oftentimes more affordable for you to cook for yourself instead of eating out. Grab some lunch meat and store it in a cooler at your hotel to fix yourself some lunch. The money you save by not dining out for each and every meal will add up rather quickly.

5. Take A Stroll to close Destinations

Instead of paying for a taxi to get to a close destination, you could walk. Taking a taxi may be faster, but will end up costing you quite a bit more money than you think. It may only seem like a little expense here and there, but by the end of your trip, you will have invested a lot more than you would think.

A word of caution on this one: if you are visiting a foreign country, find out about the safety and security concerns before you decide to walk.

5. Avoid Peak Tourists Seasons

Do not plan your travel during peak tourist seasons. The prices of everything go up during this time. If you are unsure about when the peak time for tourists is for that area, look it up on the internet – google it, as they say. You will be able to find this information relatively easily. This does not mean that you have to travel to the beaches during rainy season, it just means that you will not be going when everyone else wants to go.

6. Travel Light

If you are going to fly to your vacation destination, you will be charged more money if your luggage is heavier than the weight stipulated on the flight ticket. Eliminate any additional cost of getting your belongings to your vacation destination by reducing the amount of stuff that you take with you. Only take the essentials and leave everything else at home.

Traveling can be quite expensive and when you are on a budget and it can really limit the enjoyment you get to have. Use the information you learned here to plan a trip that you can enjoy without having to pay for it for the next five years.
